Not all trends are created equal. Every season new trends emerge, the
challenge is deciphering which are worth incorporating into your
wardrobe and which are best left in the stores. Luckily, this season is
full of flattering trends that are easy on the eyes and even easier to
wear! From citrus orange hues to cues from the seventies, here are the
top 5 trends to rock this spring.
Bold Color
Think simple
shift dresses in primary colors. Fetching shades of red, blue, yellow
and orange will be all the rage this spring. Don’t shy away from mixing
and matching bright solid colors this season for a fresh, youthful look.
Pairing a simple turquoise blouse with an electric blue skirt is a
darling way to welcome spring. Chances are you have a few great pieces
in your wardrobe that you never thought of pairing together. Take some
time to play dress up with some of your lesser worn colored pieces and
discover new ways to incorporate them into your everyday wear.
Prints Please
When
you’re not mixing and matching eye catching solid hues, dive into
delectable prints for the spring. Designers are becoming exceedingly
creative in their textile designs. Rag & Bone designer Marcus
Wainwright blew up and distorted a photo he took while on vacation to
create the unique staple print for the spring collection.
Mixing
and matching prints is also a huge trend. Designers from Diane von
Furstenberg to Gwen Stefani piled on the prints for eclectic looks this
season. There’s a fine line between being eclectic and overdoing it when
mixing patterns. Remember to stick to one or two colors when mixing
different prints to avoid looking helter-skelter. From feminine florals
to ethnic ikats, prints add a little something extra to an already
flattering silhouette.
Stark White
Calvin Klein, Alexander
Wang, Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors all played into the hottest
color trend for spring 2011, stark white! Crisp, clean and minimal, head
to toe white is probably the biggest spring trend this year. Start off
with a classic white button down and build upon this staple. Wear it
beneath a tailored white suit for a striking monochromatic look punched
up with bright accessories or make it prim and proper with a full, knee
length skirt, another great trend this season.
Seventies Chic
Relaxed
peasant blouses, high waisted wide leg trousers, funky prints and
cinched waists all herald the return of seventies chic in the year 2011.
If you tossed out your seventies garb years ago, raid vintage stores to
don this trend on the cheap. Pack up those skinny jeans and store them
in the attic, this spring is all about the high waisted, wide leg
trouser. More grown up and refined than their skinny leg predecessor,
wear them with your blouse tucked in, chunky heels and a bright thin
belt to look long and lean. Slinky, satin dresses perfect for evening
weddings and cocktail parties are also a great seventies look making a
strong comeback. Keep these sexy little numbers classy by choosing
refined jeweled hues such as sapphire, gunmetal, and emerald.
Nightcap
How
often do you have those days when you wish you could spend the entire
day in your pajamas? Well apparently designers have those days too! This
spring, uber comfortable, relaxed glorified pajama looks are hot. This
trend is best broken up rather than worn head to toe. Pairing a
structured blouse with relaxed, satin printed, drawstring trousers keeps
you on trend without looking like you literally just crawled out of
bed.
Spring is all about looking pretty and smiling in relaxed, comfortable clothes and punchy colors.
