Walk It Out!

It’s pedicure season. If your tootsies are hidden away all year, chances are the summer temperatures are making you reach for those open toe sandals, which means your little piggies need to be in tip top shape.

Lay the ballet flats of yesterday to rest. There’s no point in having the perfect pedicure if you’re not slipping on the hottest sandals this season has to offer to show it off! This is your fail-proof guide to the accessory that gets you where you need to go this summer - the sandal.

In The Nude

Perhaps not everything is better in the nude, but when it comes to sandal trends - nude is where it’s at. Almost every style you can imagine from patent leather open toe pumps to caged heel knockouts are popping up in delicate, barely there hues.

Nude accessories, especially shoes, make pulling together a seamless look easy as pie. What to wear with that killer dress you never pull out of the closet because you can never find accessories to complement its busy, colorful print - your nude sandals. What to pair with that bold red dress that looks awful with black sandals and tacky with gold ones - your nude sandals. So many of your fashion woes can be solved with a killer pair of “wear with anything” nude sandals.

Oceana

Perhaps designers caught a glimpse of our waters for their summer shoe collections. Blues and greens are hot colors for footwear this season. Where designers departed from the nude trend, they opted for bold blues and shocking greens to breathe new life into staple styles. Turquoise is the Pantone color for 2010, so you’ll be seeing it popping up in apparel and accessories all year.

Gladiators

Remember when you thought gladiators were just a trend that would fizzle away. Years later, it’s apparent this “trend” is here to stay. Each year the basic gladiator undergoes a seasonal makeover for the summer, sometimes for the worst - like when calf and knee high gladiator styles popped up, but most times for the best, like this year’s version of weaved and criss-cross styles.

Booties

The combat boot was huge this spring leading into summer, but our temperatures make it a little too hot to rock this style in the summer. Transition to the ever popular ankle boot. Ankle boots are one part edgy, one part rebellious and all parts sexy. Pair with floaty chiffon pieces for a fun dose of attitude. Booties come in a wide variety of styles from strappy options with wedge heels in soft sloughy leathers toa military inspired canvas options with stiletto heels and everything in between.

Tribal

If your summer vacation isn’t taking you on a safari in Tanzania or spice hunting in Marrakech, you can still look like it! Exotic tribal inspired sandals in animal prints and skins adorned with colorful beading and stones makes even a homebody look like a world traveler. Sexy tribal wear isn’t only for the gals of Sex & the City 2, score a pair of world class embellished sandals for your own summer adventure.
