BTC Makes Final Lap with BSF

The four year partnership between BTC and the Bahamas Swim Federation is
now its final year, and both entities are looking forward to another
stellar performance at the CARIFTA Swim Championships in Jamaica this
week. It all started four years ago, when BTC took a dive with the BSF
to provide opportunities for hundreds of Bahamian swimmers to be compete
fiercely throughout the region.

BNT statement on the Oban Oil Refinery Project

The Bahamas National Trust (BNT) has requested information
from the Government of The Bahamas (GOB) regarding the oil refinery and
storage facility in Grand Bahama, known as the Oban Project. BNT is
greatly concerned with regards to the location of the facility, which if
the reports in the press are correct, would place the refinery in close
proximity to three national parks – The Lucayan National Park, the East
Grand Bahama National Park, and the North Shore - The Gap National
Park. The BNT has asked the government to provide the exact location of
the site and to see the full Heads of Agreement. We have also asked for
the opportunity to weigh in on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
BNT wishes to state very clearly however,
that notwithstanding the results of the EIA, even if there are local
project impacts that the Bahamas Environment and Science and Technology
Commissions and the Government might deem acceptable...
