One hundred and sixty two Ministry of Education teachers, staff and administrators recently completed advanced technical training at the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI).

The courses included, but were not limited to Instructional Materials, Teaching Online, Entrepreneurship, Microsoft PowerPoint, Introduction to Python, JavaScript, Microsoft Word and Internet Fundamentals. The courses were virtual and included 54 participants from nine family islands...

GGYA has been awarded a £30,000 (GBP) grant from The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation to allow more at-risk youth, including young people in reform schools and those with greater levels of special educational needs, to participate in the programme which equips persons aged 14 to 24 for life.

The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) will begin offering a Hospitality Certificate, approved by City and Guilds, starting summer 2021.

The pilot program will offer introductory courses in Hospitality, Hospitality Management, Tourism Marketing, and Strategic Tourism Marketing. Each course will be delivered through the virtual learning platform for up to 48-guided learning hours for four weeks. Digital badges are attached to the certificates...

As Jahman Delancy plasters the gazebo and concession stand at the historic Southern Recreation Grounds, the government’s redevelopment project is also helping to restore the 26-year-old’s dignity along with that of other young men in the Over-the-Hill community.

“I have to pay rent and put food on the table, so I’m really, really, highly grateful for the opportunity to have this job. It’s been really rough,” said Mr Delancy, a father to a three-month-old daughter.

Three weeks ago, when Philip Smith learned the Bahamas Feeding Network would be tasked with feeding thousands more, which now included 17 Family Islands and one-third of New Providence, he was very pleased to learn of Aliv’s donation.
