Rotary Club of Nassau clean up Yamacraw Beach - Nov 12, 2013 - 1:04:45 AM
In
recognition of World Interact Week The Rotary Club of Nassau partnered with its
youth clubs to clean Yamacraw Beach on Saturday 9th November 2013.
80
volunteers from the The Interact Club of CV Bethel Senior High School, The
Interact Club of Kingsway Academy, The Early Act Club of Stephen Dillet and The
Rotaract Club of South East Nassau Centennial and its sponsoring
organization, the Rotary Club of Nassau, participated in the cleanup from the west
to the south of Yamacraw.
The
project that was executed at Yamacraw Beach between 7:00am and 10:30am resulted
in 20 jumbo bags of debris was gathered and properly disposed of.
Rotary
club of Nassau President Lapaige Gardiner hailed this project a success and said
this is one example of the positive work our nation's youth are involved in.

Superintendent
Stephen Dean was among a few other honorees at a Rotary Foundation Gala event,
courtesy all the Rotary Clubs in the Bahamas on Friday 8th November.
The
event, which was held at Government House Under the Distinguished Patronage of
Their Excellencies Sir Arthur Foulkes, Governor General of The Commonwealth of
The Bahamas and Lady Foulkes paid tribute to Rotarians and others in the
community who give Service Above Self.
Superintendent
Dean who is a member of the Rotary Club of Nassau received the prestigious
Rotary Paul Harris Award in recognition of his service to the country and for
the gallant efforts that he and his colleagues on the Royal Bahamas Police Force

The Bahamas' clubs are the cornerstone of Rotary in the region, according to District 7020 Governor, Jeremy Hurst.
Mr.
Hurst and his wife Michelle are in town for two weeks visiting with all
eight branches of Rotary which includes six clubs in Nassau and one
each in Eleuthera and Abaco.
"You can't help to be impressed
with the tremendous job that Rotary does in The Bahamas," Mr. Hurst

The Bahamas may have missed the boat on being the first
country with a stem cell research center. One was proposed for Grand Bahama but
due to lack of proper legislation has delayed.
Dr. Kevin Bethel of Freeport Family Wellness Center, made
this statement as he addressed the Rotary Club of Grand Bahama Sunrise on
Wednesday morning at Geneva’s Restaurant.
He stated that at the outset that there has been some
misconceptions about stem cells which he said for the most part was unfounded.
