Jody Turnquest won the London Springs Slam Open in London Ontario Canada in April.
Jody
entered the tournament seeded 2nd and won his opening match over
Alessandro Sant Angelou who was seeded 3rd 6-3, 6-7, 7-6. He then faced
Alejandro Cortes winning decisively 6-0 7-5. Jody then moved on to play
Mike Lay where he won in two sets 6-1, 6-3.
In the finals Jody
faced Stefan Frijanic where his consistent and talented tennis play
proved to be more than enough as he won over Stefan 6-3, 6-3...

CARIFTA Track and Field Team Arrives Home with Second Place Win - Apr 23, 2019 - 3:55:30 PM
The Bahamas CARIFTA Track and Field Team returned home today from the
Cayman Islands, where they competed in games during the Easter holiday
weekend. They placed second overall (Jamaica was first) with 26
medals. The team is pictured in the LPIA Hall of Champions after
disembarking their Bahamasair Charter. Standing with them, at centre,

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture takes this opportunity to
congratulate the outstanding young men and women that represented the
Commonwealth of the Bahamas at the Water Polo CARIFTA Games held in St.
Michael, Barbados this past weekend. Team Bahamas walked away from the
2019 CARIFTA Water Polo Games with three (3) Medals gold, silver and
bronze.
The bronze medal was won by the Under – 19 Boys who
skillfully executed their game plan to defeat the team from Trinidad and
Tobago and we are very proud of them for their fine effort displayed at
the Games...

Team shows up strong on the first day of competition. Starting off in
singles play was Danielle Thompson of The Bahamas against Melena Lopez.
Danielle came out and set a strong pace allowing Lopez no games with a
final score of 6-0, 6-0. Danielle came out fired up and maintained a
high momentum throughout the match.

had a remarkable showing for their first international tournament in
Florida at the 2019 Sharks Soccer Cup & Showcase. The Tournament

Nassau Rowing Club competed in the 47th Miami International Regatta
hosted by the Miami Rowing Club on Saturday, 6th April 2019. The event
is one of the largest high school regattas in Florida, attracting 236

Bahamian Kofi Bowe advanced to the semifinals of
the USTA's Rick Macci International Spring Break Challenger. Kofi
entered the Boys U16s event which was held in Boca Raton, Florida. Kofi
defeated Jack Kreisberg (USA) 6-4, 6-0 to advance to the
quarterfinals. He received a walkover to the semifinals where he played
his doubles partner Trey Hardersen of Florida and lost 4-6, 1-6.
Kofi
who hails from Grand Bahama also played well but lost in doubles
