STUART, FL - Talkin’ Tourism, a Treasure Coast based radio talk show that airs on WPSL 1590 AM and streams live over the Internet, will broadcast live from the island of Bimini in the Bahamas this Friday, December 30.

Show hosts Gary Guertin and Robin Hicks-Connors will hype New Year’s activities on the Bahamian island closest to Florida’s coast and explore the historical, business and cultural connections between Florida and this particular “island in the stream” famous for its crystal clear waters and abundant marine life.

“With over 700 islands and cays—so close to our shores, Florida residents and visitors don’t realize how close the Bahamas are nor how different the experiences are from island to island, especially in the Out Islands. Florida and The Bahamas are connected via the Gulf Stream. Collaborative efforts with Bahamian resort and marina properties to enhance tourism in both countries, makes economic sense,” said Guertin. “ Talkin’ Tourism keeps pushing that message forward and folks are listening.”

Guests for the December 30 show include Bimini tourism officials, representatives from the Bimini Biological Field Station, the vice-president of Bimini Sands Resort & Marina—Frank Cooney, Jr., spokespersons from the islands two Junkanoo groups—which will be performing on New Year’s Day, and Bimini Sands Resort and Marina Activities Directors Grant Johnson and Katie Grudecki, who will describe the diverse activities and experiences available in Bimini, as well as Bimini Sand’s annual New Year’s Eve fireworks extravaganza.

The December 30 show is the fourth to air live from Bimini, and the 17th international location. Previous remotes have been produced from Green Turtle Cay, Port Lucaya, West End, Elbow Cay, Cape Eleuthera, Marsh Harbour and Bimini in the Bahamas, and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.

Talkin’ Tourism on Florida’s Treasure Coast airs every Friday on WPSL 1590 AM from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The show can also be heard live on the Internet at www.wpsl.com .

Talkin’ Tourism on Florida’s Treasure Coast began broadcasting nearly three years ago and is produced by Gary and Misti Guertin.

In addition to being the on air hosts for Talkin' Tourism, Gary Guertin (along with his wife Misti) is the co-publisher of the Bahamas edition of Coastal Angler Magazine, and Robin Hicks-Connors is president of RHC Fundraising Consultants.
