BISX COO speaks to Rotary Club Meeting

On Thursday, October 18, 2018, the Chief Operating Officer of The
Bahamas International Securities Exchange (BISX), Mr. Holland Grant was
asked to give a speech to members of Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise at
their monthly meeting. Mr. Grant spoke about the history of BISX, the
current state of the market and the future of Bahamian Capital Markets.
Mr. Grant commented, “It was a pleasure to have an informed discussion
with this group which allowed all of us a chance to discuss ideas on the
future of the Bahamian capital markets. The capital markets are the
result of the efforts of regulators, investors and companies, the Rotary
Sunrise Membership included persons from all of these areas, leading to
a dynamic conversation.”

Eleuthera’s Youth Endorse Campaign to Save Lighthouse Point

involvement has moved forward. It is no longer seen as a rebellious act,
the way it was a few decades ago.” For a trio of young activists from
the island of Eleuthera this couldn’t be truer. Franchesca Hanna, 16,
Kristman Moss, 15 and Wadainya Weinburger – all students of the Central
Eleuthera High School recently gave their strong endorsement of, and
lent their voices to, the Campaign to Save Lighthouse Point joining
their adult counterparts from the One Eleuthera Foundation and the
Bahamas National Trust on a media tour to raise awareness about the need
for sustainable – and not commercial development of the area...

On Saturday August 25th, 2018 Rotary Clubs of The Bahamas hosted its
first Interclub Assembly under the theme “Be The Inspiration”, which is
the 2018-2019 presidential theme for Rotary International President
Barry Rassin. Highlights of the Assembly included a panel of Past
Rotary Presidents who led the audience in a discussion on the topic,
“Challenges Faced by Clubs” and a panel discussion lead by Rotaractors
on the topic “Ensuring the Transition from Rotaract to Rotary”...

After decades of dreaming and fundraising, the Bahamas Girl Guides
Association moves another step closer to building its new headquarters.
Today, Monday, 7th May, 2018 the Association, under the leadership of
Architect , Alvan Rolle awarded the contract for the new building to
Brandon Watson of Watson Contruction Company. Mr. Watson was prepared
to help the Girl Guides begin this project, despite the fact that only
half the amount required is currently available...
