Nassau, Bahamas - Seven women of the Delancy Street After School Outreach
Centre are on their way to learning a skill and becoming empowered - thanks to
the generosity of the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise.
The club recently made presentations of beauty supplies to
the women who are enrolled in the 15-week natural hair styling program at The
Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institution (BTVI). Recipients received roller bags stuffed with
supplies including, but not limited to styling capes and lab jackets to blow
dryers and comb sets...

Halkitis was a recent guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Old Fort. The
Minister provided insight into the continuing impact of the global
recession on the Bahamian economy and the government’s plans to
implement initiatives that drive economic growth. Minister Halkitis
spoke candidly about challenges to national economic development. In
particular, high electricity rates, the challenges of operating a

desperate need to restore normalcy to Bahamians in the Southern Islands
affected by Hurricane Joaquin, The Myers Group of Restaurants has

Nassau, The Bahamas - The recently formed
Rotary Club of Old Fort (RCOF) is the newest Rotary club in The Bahamas.
RCOF is the newest club in the Rotary Bahamas family as well as the
Rotary District 7020 family. This district comprises 10 countries and 14
islands in the northern Caribbean including Turks and Caicos, Haiti,
Jamaica, The Cayman Islands, The U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin
Islands, Anguilla, and islands in the French Antilles and Netherlands
Antilles. The club, which was chartered in May, celebrated its highly
anticipated charter presentation ceremony with the outgoing 7020
District Governor, Paul Brown, of Jamaica and the District Governor

This year BTC Grand Bahama was one of the proud sponsors for the 19th
Annual Science Engineering Communication, Mathematics and Enrichment
(SECME) competition held by Rotary Lucaya. Students presented at Sir
Jack Hayward High School in early April and BTC awarded Winners of the
Clawbot Robotics category, Sunland Academy, with their awards and a new

Assistant Diatrict Governor Karen Pinder arrive via Sky Bahamas
Airlines on an official Visit to Abaco.
This afternoon at 5:30 p.m., DG Stubbs will meet with RCOA Board of
Directors to review the progress and future plans of the Club. Later in
the evening, at 7:30 p.m. The District Governor and party will attend a
Dinner Meeting with the Rotary Club of Abaco at Snappa’s Bar and Grill.

Nassau, Bahamas – Last week the Bahamas Waste team unveiled another new
service truck to be added to their fleet. This one though carried a
message dear to the Directors and Managers hearts, “Service Above Self!”
Rotary’s official motto, Service Above Self, traces back to the early
days of the organization in 1911. Taken from a speech made at their
second convention of the National Association of Rotary Clubs of
America. In 1950 at the Convention in Detroit, it was officially adopted
as one of the clubs mottos and in 1989 Council on Legislation, and they
established ‘Service Above Self’ as the principal motto of Rotary...
