Nassau, Bahamas - Islands of the World Fashion Week has started another new initiative, the Fashion in Film Series, which will take place each Wednesday evening leading up to the big event, November 11 - 13th.

The first film screened on October 20th and you can still catch the remaining films, all at Galleria Cinemas West on JFK Drive and all focusing on Fashion:

October 27th, Valentino, 7pm; November 3rd, The Devil Wear Prada, 7pm; and November 10th, Eleven Minutes, 7pm.

Nassau, Bahamas: On Thursday 14th October, 2010, the inclement weather placed a halt on the CD launch party planned by Mode Îsles Ltd, producers of “Islands of The World Fashion Week”. The unexpected rain however, proved to be a blessing in disguise, as it became the inspiration behind a generous donation of hors d'oeuvres donated to the Bahamas Children’s Emergency Hostel on Saturday, October 16, 2010. In preparation for one of the most anticipated events of the IWFW 2010 calendar, organizers were forced to postpone the launch of the “IWFW CD Vol.1”; the official runway music to be used in the “Islands of the World Fashion Week” international television debut...

Nassau, Bahamas -  Mode Îles Ltd., the producers of the award-winning fashion event, Islands of the World Fashion Week, have announced the establishment of two scholarships in conjunction with the internationally-recognized Parsons The New School for Design, based in New York, for a promising young fashion designer to attend one of the many summer intensive programs offered at the institution to enhance their skills in various aspects of the fashion industry. 

The first scholarship will be awarded to the recipient of the NextGen Designer Award competition which is held annually during the Islands of the World Fashion Week in November, and selected by a panel of international judges. Past recipients of the NextGen Designer Award have been Tamiko Browne of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and Darcel de Vlugt of Trinidad & Tobago...

Nassau, Bahamas - Mode Îles Ltd., organizers of the award-winning Islands of the World Fashion Week (IWFW), announced that the two International Guest Designers selected to present creations from their Spring/Summer 2011 Collection at the event are Jay McCarroll and Oliver Tolentino. IWFW will take place November 11th – 13th at the British Colonial Hilton. 

Jay McCarroll has distinguished himself as a talented designer as he became the first winner of the popular American reality series, Project Runway. He has gone on to become a celebrity designer, and has starred in the documentary feature film “Eleven Minutes” which recounts his rise to fame...
