With a nearly packed house, unpredictable weather was no match for Islands of the World Fashion Showcase (IWFS) as the world-renowned event set Fort Charlotte on fire.

With 19 designer showcases packed into two nights, the sixth installation of IWFS proved to hold its own with spectacular showcases and an electrifying crowd...

Nassau, Bahamas - A highlight of the Islands of the World Fashion Showcase  which took place in Nassau last weekend was Cuba’s “Art and Fashion Project” (Arte y Moda) which showed at Fort Charlotte.

Direct from Havana and seen for only the 2nd time outside of Cuba, Islands of the World Fashion Showcase presents “Arte y Moda” (“Art and Fashion Project”) delivered a colourful feast of art, fashion, dance and music fused together in an awe-inspiring spectacle. From Bahamas it was back to Cuba for a showing at their National Museum of Fine Arts from November 13th to 16th with much of the collection made from recycled materials including metal.

The two-day highly anticipated fashion extravaganza was held on November 7th and 8th and featured fashion designers from Bermuda, Cuba, Jamaica, Nigeria, Turks and Caicos, The Bahamas and the United States of America, that presented an array of haute couture, prêt a porter, resort wear and swimwear collections at the historical Fort Charlotte that was transformed into a Fashion Pavilion...

Nassau, The Bahamas -  May 11, 2012 will go down in fashion history as one of the most electrifying nights ever. It was a full house Friday evening and hundreds gathered to the premier spring/summer edition of Islands of the World Fashion Showcase.


Only standing room was available at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort's ballroom for the much anticipated event where 11 designers, representing the island nations of The Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana, St. Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago, debuted their collections to the world. From racy swimwear to dynamic resort wear with asymmetrical embellishments, the showcase kept its captivated audience speechless.

Nassau, Bahamas - On May 11th, the runway at the Sheraton Cable Beach Resort in Nassau was alive with the latest styles of Bahamian designers as well as those visiting from island nations around the globe for Islands of the World Fashion Showcase now being held in May and November annually.

After an extremely successful night of the fashion, the awards presentations were made the following night at a closing reception with a V.I.P dinner at Blu Restaurant.

The mood was This year marks significant change as Mode Îles, Ltd., the organizers of the award-winning Islands of the World Fashion Week event have made significant changes as the production will now be a twice annually event in both May and November.

The enthusiastic crowd at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort was buzzing with anticipation as fashionistas, visitors to The Bahamas, and local notables such as Dr. Andrew Burnstine, Pamela Burnside,
local pageant queens, and many others filled the room to capacity...

Nassau, Bahamas - Excitement and anticipation is thick in the air backstage at the Islands of the World Fashion Showcase, as models, designers and make-up artists are hard at work preparing for the show just a couple hours before the show.

Local designer from Grand Bahama, Courtney McIntosh of Zatthu Inc. said she was looking forward to the show and is excited to show her collection of men's and women’s resort and swimwear.

New to the event, model Drew Palacious of Grand Bahama Island said “This is the biggest show I have ever walked in and the energy here is great!”
