Nassau, Bahamas – The organizers of the award-winning Islands of the World Fashion Week, Mode Îles, Ltd., have announced the initial list of participants in this year’s event to be held 4th – 8th November at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort..

Leading off three days of activities in the fashion-filled air will be The Muse Model Search Competition. Twelve models representing six island nations from the region will compete for the title of Male and Female Model Muse and the opportunity to win $10,000 in cash each and become the face for Islands of the World Fashion Week over the next year.

Nassau, Bahamas - On Saturday, September 19, 2009, in the Arawak Room at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Nassau, Mode lsles Ltd, producers of the award winning Islands of the World Fashion Week, will hold its local casting call for prospective male and female models interested in participating in this year's fashion showcase.

Castings for the fashion event will begin at 9am and run until 4pm. Models attending the casting call are required to bring along a photo portfolio (if one is available), a passport or drivers license photo II), and two change of clothing - one casual, one swimwear...

Nassau, Bahamas. Tuesday, 2nd June, 2009:  Mode Îles, Ltd., organizers of the award-winning event, Islands of the World Fashion Week, have announced plans to host the second edition of the event during the period November 4th - 8th at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Hotel in The Bahamas.
 
Leading up to Fashion Week the organizers will be busy producing the fashion show for the Miss Universe Pageant scheduled to take place in The Bahamas in August. The fashion show will feature creations by leading Bahamian designers utilizing fabric of Bahamas-based manufacturers, Androsia and Bahama Hand Prints, and modeled by all of the contestants in the Miss Universe Pageant.

A steam iron and three portable racks were donated to the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute's fashion department Friday, May 8th, 2009, by representatives of Mode Iles Ltd as tokens of appreciation for their participation at Islands of the World Fashion Week last November.
Presenting on behalf of the company was Arianne Etuk, Chief Operations Officer, and Brynda Knowles, Senior Fashion Consultant.
 
"We would like to thank BTVI and the rest of the Islands of the World Fashion Week team for their dedicated support and hard work during the launch last November," said Etuk as she also credited the school's participation for the company's recent success of winning the award for 'Best Fashion Show or Fashion Week attended' category at the 2nd Annual Caribbean Fashion Awards (CFA) held at the Hilton Hotel in Bridgetown, Barbados, on April 11th 2009...

Nassau, The Bahamas - Following one of the Islands of the World Fashion Week shows last month, guests, designers, locals, models and judges were treated to a Bahamian cultural night of mind blowing entertainment. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation in the beautiful Bahamas National Trust Gardens.

Included in the entertainment line-up was Fire dancer Action Johnny, local entertainer, Matellus Chipman and The Bahamas National Youth Choir.   The cultural evening was complimented by a succulent buffet complete with a mindboggling spread of Bahamian dishes, including local favorites such as conch salad, peas soup and dumplings and coconut water.    

Kendal Major, Senior Manager of Communications and Public Relations at the Ministry of Tourism explained that events like IWFW are good for the economy...

Nassau, Bahamas - It was a bittersweet occasion on the afternoon of  November 7th at the British Colonial Hilton, as fashion lovers poured into the room for the highly anticipated show of handbag designer, the late Harl Taylor.

For almost one year the investigation of his brutal murder, which cut short such a gifted life, had been underway. Just recently, the police, having conducted numerous interviews with persons of interest, had finally made an arrest.

Such was the popularity of his bags that they sold in top US stores like Bloomingdales. Personal fans of his pieces, like Oprah Winfrey and Vanessa Williams were photographed carrying his distinctive embellished straw bags...

Nassau, The Bahamas - A fashion feast lasting four days was deemed a huge success by participants and guests of the inaugural Islands of the World Fashion Week, which took place from November 5th to 8th primarily at the British Colonial Hilton, as well as the Atlantis on Paradise Island. The Mode Iles Ltd team, headed by Mr. Owen Bethel are to be congratulated on putting forth a top-notch world class event.

Island countries represented were Cuba, Fiji, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Madagascar, Barbados, St. Lucia, Jamaica, and of course The Bahamas. Three international guest designers, Peter Ingwersen of NOIR Illuminati II from Denmark, Nick Verreos of Nikolaki from the United States, and Kevan Hall also from the United States of America.

The winner of the 'Sustainable Eco-Fashion' Award was Queen Esther  ( Kuumba Designs) from St. Lucia; and Tamiko Browne ( Tami B Designs)  from St. Vincent took two awards, one for 'Culture and Fashion' and also the 'NextGen' Award.
