Nassau, Bahamas - Islands of the World Fashion Week has started another new initiative, the Fashion in Film Series, which will take place each Wednesday evening leading up to the big event, November 11 - 13th.

The first film screened on October 20th and you can still catch the remaining films, all at Galleria Cinemas West on JFK Drive and all focusing on Fashion:

October 27th, Valentino, 7pm; November 3rd, The Devil Wear Prada, 7pm; and November 10th, Eleven Minutes, 7pm.

The unexpected rain however, proved to be a blessing in disguise, as it became the inspiration behind a generous donation of hors d'oeuvres donated to the Bahamas Children’s Emergency Hostel on Saturday, October 16, 2010. Nassau, Bahamas -  Mode Îles Ltd., the producers of the award-winning fashion event, Islands of the World Fashion Week, have announced the establishment of two scholarships in conjunction with the internationally-recognized Parsons The New School for Design, based in New York, for a promising young fashion designer to attend one of the many summer intensive programs offered at the institution to enhance their skills in various aspects of the fashion industry. 

The first scholarship will be awarded to the recipient of the NextGen Designer Award competition which is held annually during the Islands of the World Fashion Week in November, and selected by a panel of international judges. Past recipients of the NextGen Designer Award have been Tamiko Browne of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and Darcel de Vlugt of Trinidad & Tobago...

Attractive male and female runway models. Height: 5'7" and taller in bare feet. Dress size 0-4. All models must be healthy, in good physical shape, have clear (unblemished) skin, straight white teeth, no obvious scars, no tan lines, excessive piercings or tattoos. Nassau, Bahamas –  Islands of the World Fashion Tour, the most recent off-shoot of Islands of the World Fashion Week, made its second cross-country (USA) stop in the windy city, Chicago. The show, executed to a full capacity house of 300 persons, took place at the chic Loft on Lake facility in the renowned West Loop. Known for its keen sense of style, even in architectural design, and the existence of the Magnificent Mile of designer boutiques and upscale retail stores, Chicago offered the perfect setting to present the exquisite creations of four award-winning designers from the exotic islands of Indonesia, Jamaica, Madagascar, and The Bahamas.

Nassau, Bahamas -  Kendrick David Kemp, the winner of the Male Model Muse Competition at the Islands of the World Fashion Week held in November, 2009, has been selected by the Miss World Bahamas organizers to represent The Bahamas at the Mr. World Competition scheduled to be held on Saturday, 27th March, in Incheon, South Korea. Mr. Kemp leaves The Bahamas for South Korea on 11th March to prepare for the final and participate in a number of preliminary events.  

Mr. Kemp won the title of Male Model Muse during the finals of The Muse Model Search Competition as a part of the Islands of the World Fashion Week. He was chosen over eight finalists representing The Bahamas, Barbados, Haiti, St. Kitts & Nevis, and Trinidad & Tobago. The title of Female Model Muse was won by Giovara Gertruida of Curacao...
