Old Bahama Bay transitions lodging unit management to condominium owners - Dec 16, 2011 - 12:48:10 PM

WEST END, GRAND BAHAMA —  Consistent with its established effort to focus attention on the development and operation of the commercial and utility properties it owns, the Old Bahama Bay Resort (OBB Resort) development company has announced that it will not renew its rental management agreement with the condominium owners at the resort.

A proposed continuation plan would result in the property and rental management responsibilities reverting to the condo owners themselves, while OBB Resort will continue to operate the marina and oversee food and beverage operations...

West End, Grand Bahama - Old Bahama Bay General Manager Jackie Carroll today announced the planned, temporary closure of Old Bahama Bay beginning September 8th through October 8th, 2009.  

The resort will use this time period to conduct scheduled maintenance work.  The move is in keeping with the resort’s commitment to maintaining quality standards and service.

West End, Grand Bahama Island - From May 14-17, 2009 The Ginn Old Bahama Bay Resort and Marina played host to dozens of the world’s most skilled fishermen for the Mike Schmidt’s Winners Circle Fishing Tournament. The event which is held annually is in its 10th year with the funds raised used to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

More than 35 teams entered and participated in the 3 day tournament including a team from Old Bahama Bay. Avid Fishermen Al Jones, Senior VP of Ginn Development and Nathan Moody Director of Operations  at Old Bahama Bay, personally sponsored the team with Mr. Jones offering his personal vessel the “Grand Baby” for use, while Mr. Moody funded the cost and was the Captain for the team...

The two day event sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Waugh Construction, Bradford Marine and GB Foods provided a holiday weekend of Sun and Fun for all participants.

The idea for a Native Fish Hunt was born out of the desire to bring greater attention to the wonderful fishing opportunities available in the Bahamas and more specifically off the coast of West End. For years Old Bahama Bay has hosted scores of international and US fisherman in various tournaments and has had a great deal of success in doing so...

Since April 2007, a weekly reading program was instituted at the school, allowing staff members of Old Bahama Bay along with visiting authors to read to the students. The contribution of fifty books particularly geared towards grades five and six students, was a part of this ongoing effort...
