image001_6_-SMALL.jpg
Freeport, Grand Bahama - The Cancer Association of Grand Bahama was given a check in the amount of $1,000 by Lucaya International School student Andrew Goodrum recently.  The thirteen year old raised the funds himself through sponsors who donated money with the provision that he shave his head, donating the money to the Cancer Association of Grand Bahama, and donating hair to “Locks of Love’, an organization that creates hairpieces for children with cancer.

The idea started when the male staff at Lucaya International School decided to participate in ‘Movember,’ where men start clean shaven and commit to growing a mustache during November to raise funds and awareness for men’s cancers, specifically prostate and testicular.  “I wanted to do my part in giving to the Cancer Association of Grand Bahama,” explained Andrew, “but I couldn’t grow a mustache, so I thought I could chop off my hair instead to raise funds...

The Quiet Storm behind The Bahama Brass Band 50th, Anniversary Celebration Concert‏ - Jan 20, 2010 - 11:03:23 PM

SMALL-SMALL-BARRY-MORRIS-LA.gif
Freeport, Grand Bahama - Pastor Barry B. Morris the consumate "Musician Extraordinaire". Born into a world where opportunities abound, but can also provide you with setbacks; his resilience is astounding. On Saturday January 16th, 2010, all persons in attendance at The Church of God of Prophecy, Coral Road, Grand Bahama, got to experience the quiet depth of his love for the fine art of music and how it should be presented, his dedication, his riveting directives and passion for an art most certainly older than himself, but he has certainly awaken the demons of doubt in his ability to showcase first class performance on the level of a Sydney Orchestra House Repetoire. Masterful in his appearance, aware of his musical notes even during the loudest of sounds, dominating in bringing to the fore the best of his Band Members to a performance never seen in these Isles known to us as The Bahamas.
