RBPF: Marijuana Field Discovered in Grand Bahama - Dec 28, 2018 - 8:02:13 AM

Reports are that on Thursday 27th December 2018, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit along with U.S Law Enforcement Officers, while on aerial patrol in the eastern area of Grand Bahama, discovered (5) plots of suspected marijuana plants and a quantity of suspected marijuana seeds. The plants range between six inches to two feet in height and has a street value of $120,000.00. 

There were no arrest made in this matter...

Reports are that on Wednesday 19th December 2018 shortly before 10:00am, Drug Enforcement Unit officers acting on information, proceeded to the rear of the International Bazaar in a bushy  area where they discovered in a plastic bag (50) .40 rounds of ammunition. There were no arrest made in this matter...

Reports are that on Thursday 20th December 2018 shortly before 2:00am, officers of the North Eastern Police Station while on mobile patrol in the area of East Sunrise Highway...

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the death of a malewho was found with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Reports are that on Tuesday 18th December 2018, shortly after 10:00am, police were called to a residence on Inagua Avenue, where a male was discovered with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Emergency Medical Personnel were called to the scene. He was later pronounced dead.

Police are actively investigating this matter and are appealing to the Grand Bahama community for any information that can assist them in this investigation...

Six men were taken into police custody by officers of the Mobile Division, after they were found in possession of dangerous drugs.

Reports are that on Monday 17th December 2018 shortly before 6:00pm, officers of the Mobile Division acting on information, went to a home on John Rutt Lane, where they arrested (6) males after they were found in possession of 10 lbs. of suspected marijuana with a street value of $10,000.00Investigation into this matter is continuing...

Reports are that on Saturday 15th December 2018, shortly before 6:00pm, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit while in the area of East Atlantic Drive, took into custody a 33 year old male of Freeport after he was found in possession of 10 lbs. of suspected marijuana in his vehicle with a street value of $10,000.00. A further search of the vehicle also uncovered a .38 revolver with (4) rounds of ammunition...

Reports are that on Tuesday 11th December 2018, shortly after 6:00pm, officers of the Central Detective Unit arrest a 35 year old male in the Coral Road area, in connection with the break-in at a Financial Institution. He is expected to be formally arraigned before the Magistrate Court this week...

Reports are that on Sunday 4th November 2018, shortly after 5:00pm, a male presented himself at the Freeport Harbor Security Check Point before travelling to Fort Lauderdale. The suspect was searched and a clear plastic bag containing suspected cocaine was discovered hidden in his waist. The 28 year old male of Eight Mile Rock was arrested and taken into police custody.

The suspected cocaine has a street value of $18,000.00...

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the drowning of an adult male visiting the island on Monday 22nd October 2018.

According to reports, the male visitor went to Taino Beach sometime after 3:00pm, where, he went snorkeling. Sometime later, he was found lying at the edge of the water unresponsive. Emergency personnel responded, and the male was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital for further medical assistance where he later succumbed...

Reports are that on Tuesday 9th October 2018, shortly before 4:00pm, officers of the Central Detective Unit along with Immigration officers and the K-9 Unit, acting on information, went to Florin Drive, South Bahamia, and discovered in bushes, (9) crocus bags, all containing packages of suspected marijuana.

The weight of the suspected marijuana was (226) pounds with a street value of $226,000.00. There were no arrest made in this matter, investigation will continue...

1. Felicos Joseph age 52 years of Haiti, was arraigned before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson in Magistrate Court #2 on the charge of Unlawful Sexual Intercourse. He was not required to enter a plea, the matter was adjourned to the 28th February 2019 for trial. Bail was denied. This matter will proceed by way of Voluntary Bill of Indictment...

Reports are that on Friday 5th October 2018 between 5:30pm and 8:30pm, officers of the Traffic Division conducted operation “Steel Curtain” that covered most of the Divisions in the Grand Bahama District, and yielded (67) fixed penalty notices...
