Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the drowning of an adult male visiting the island on Monday 22nd October 2018.

According to reports, the male visitor went to Taino Beach sometime after 3:00pm, where, he went snorkeling. Sometime later, he was found lying at the edge of the water unresponsive. Emergency personnel responded, and the male was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital for further medical assistance where he later succumbed...

Reports are that on Thursday 11th October 2018, Law Enforcement Officers ( Police and Immigration Officers) in Central Abaco launched “Operation Touch Down”, where (40) persons were cited for various traffic infractions, (4) persons arrested for outstanding Warrants and (5) persons arrested for Immigration purposes.

Also on the same date, in Grand Bahama, Operation Sunset Strike was launched between the hours of 5:00pm - 11:00pm...

Grand Bahama police discover 226 lbs suspected marijuana - Oct 10, 2018 - 10:55:25 AM

Reports are that on Tuesday 9th October 2018, shortly before 4:00pm, officers of the Central Detective Unit along with Immigration officers and the K-9 Unit, acting on information, went to Florin Drive, South Bahamia, and discovered in bushes, (9) crocus bags, all containing packages of suspected marijuana.

The weight of the suspected marijuana was (226) pounds with a street value of $226,000.00. There were no arrest made in this matter, investigation will continue...

Suspects arraigned before The Magistrate Court on major offences in Grand Bahama

1. Felicos Joseph age 52 years of Haiti, was arraigned before Magistrate Debbye Ferguson in Magistrate Court #2 on the charge of Unlawful Sexual Intercourse. He was not required to enter a plea, the matter was adjourned to the 28th February 2019 for trial. Bail was denied. This matter will proceed by way of Voluntary Bill of Indictment...

Grand Bahama male found in possession of firearm at business establishment - Oct 9, 2018 - 6:32:55 AM

Reports are that on Monday 8th October 2018 shortly before 10:00pm, officers acting on information, went to West Beach Drive, at a business establishment, where a male was found in possession of a black and silver 9mm pistol.

He was arrested, taken into police custody and is expected to be arraigned before the Magistrate Court this week...

In keeping with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2018 Priority #1 “Crime Prevention and Reduction of Crime” and Priority #2 Public and Road Safety”. Officers of Grand Bahama arrested (5) persons and issued (67) Fixed Penalty Notices between Friday 5th October 2018 and Sunday 7th October 2018. 

Reports are that on Friday 5th October 2018 between 5:30pm and 8:30pm, officers of the Traffic Division conducted operation “Steel Curtain” that covered most of the Divisions in the Grand Bahama District, and yielded (67) fixed penalty notices...

Reports are that on Friday 5th October 2018 between the hours of 5pm and 2am, officers executed search warrants on five residence in the Freeport area and arrested (5) suspects for possession of dangerous drugs, illegal firearms and ammunition in separate incidents.

Officers took into possession a quantity of ammunition, (2) imitation firearm, (2) packages of suspected marijuana weighing (2) lbs. and (15) foil wraps of suspected marijuana...

Reports are that Drug Enforcement Unit Officers in Grand Bahama on Thursday 4th October 2018, shortly before 9:00pm, acting on information, went to Abaco Drive, where they searched a bushy area and discovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana. There were no arrest in this matter.

RBPF: Attempted armed robbery foiled in Grand Bahama - Oct 2, 2018 - 9:45:35 AM

Reports are that on Tuesday 2nd October 2018, shortly after 1:00am, police were called to Waterfall Drive, in Seahorse Village, where two males reportedly entered a home brandishing a firearm and a knife, and demanded cash and other personal properties from residents who reside in the home. The occupants resisted and a fight ensued where the culprits were stabbed multiple times about the body. The culprits then tried to escape in a vehicle, but were again interrupted by residents of the home and the vehicle received extensive damages...

Reports are that on Sunday 30th September 2018 shortly after 1:00pm, police were called to Silver Palm Street, where it was reported that a group of persons were at that location, when a male jumped into the canal. After some time when the male did not resurface, another male went into water and retrieved him. CPR was administered...

The second incident occurred shortly after 9:00pm, reports are that two masked males, both armed with a firearm, entered a business establishment in Hunters, held up a security guard and a female employee and demanded cash. The female employee ran into the bathroom and was shot to the leg. Both bandits made good their escape by foot without any cash..

Reports are that on Wednesday 26th September 2018, shortly before 12:00 p.m., officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit and officers of the Central Detective Unit, were called to the Grand Bahama Shipyard, where they discovered attached to the bottom of a cargo vessel, a metal container with thirty eight wrapped packages of suspected marijuana inside. The estimated weight of the suspected marijuana is (86) lbs., with a street value of $86,000.00 eighty six thousand dollars...

There were no suspects arrested in this matter...

Reports are that on Tuesday 11th September 2018, shortly before 10:00pm, officers of the Central Detective Unit while on mobile patrol in the area of Coral Road and Royal Palm Way, observed a male on a motorcycle acting suspicious. The male upon seeing the officers fled the scene, and was observed throwing an object into bushes. Officers gave chase but the suspect was able to make good his escape. Officers went back to the area where they discovered a bag containing (2) two pistols with (13) live rounds of 9mm ammunition...

Reports are that on Friday 7th September 2018, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit while on patrol in the area of Polaris Drive, stopped and searched a vehicle with a male occupant and discovered a substantial amount of monies totaling $47,367.00 in U.S currency, to which the occupant could not give a satisfactory account of how the monies came into his possession. Reports are that on Wednesday 5th September 2018, between 4pm and 11pm, a joint operation named “Operation Black Out”, consisting of Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit and Rapid Response, took to the streets of the Central area, where a number of search warrants were executed at residences in that area. This resulted in the seizure of a 9mm pistol with (8) rounds of ammunition, (49) packages of suspected cocaine, cash in the amount of $1,699.00...
